Ideal with roast, game and spicy types of cheese.
Tasting notes
This elegant, full-bodied blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Shiraz offers sweet notes of strawberry and berry fruit, with flavors of leather, spice and vanilla. Supple texture and an admirable finish. A great "Supertuscan".
The Campomaggio estate
The Chianti region, straddling the fascinating provinces of Florence and Siena, has given us, in addition to its important history, a famous wine which is produced since the time of our Etruscan forefathers. In this wonderful region, exactly in its centre, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, we find the Campomaggio Estate, with its 120 acres of over 20 years old vines placed on the sunny side of the hills. With an ideal topsoil of "galestro" and "alberese", it spreads in full view of
a typical Tuscan village graced by an imposing building with an admirable medieval courtyard. In this precious beauty we have produced for over 100 years our best Chianti Classico as well as the Barrique Red from Sangiovese grapes.
The wine
This wine comes from a selection of the best sangiovese vines blended with a small portion of cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from the campomaggio vineyard. After the fermentation the wine is aged for 12 months in barrique, and in bottles for a further 6 months.
