Chateau Larose-Trintaudon
Château Larose Trintaudon is respected as one of the top estates within the Haut-Médoc. They routinely produce highly rated wines that exhibit great quality and character. This estate continues to produce some of our top selling wines; they always over deliver, for the price.
This prestigious estate was recently designated a “Cru Bourgeois Superieur” in the new 2020 classification. (This selection is made by an independent panel of experts and will be reviewed every five years. Several factors are considered including agricultural, environmental and technical as well as site visits. Multiple vintages are then blind tasted from each Chateau to determine the final classification. The first labels to carry the new classification will be featured on the 2018 vintage labels.)

Château Larose-Trintaudon dates back to 1719, but it wasn't until 1838 when Henry Delaroze, Mayor of Saint-Laurent, planted a vineyard on a gravelly mound in a place called 'Trintaudon' that its winemaking history began. The 370 acre vineyard of Château Larose-Trintaudon is planted upon one of the oldest layers of Médoc gravel, called the 'Pyrenean layer'. Situated on the borders of the Pauillac and Saint-Julien Appellations, it benefits from very similar growing conditions as its famous neighbor Château Latour. The soil is mainly composed of fine and sandy gravels on top of a 'clay-based' limestone soil. The vines are on average 28 years old with a planting density of 2,700 per acre. The team green harvests every Spring to ensure that grape bunches hang separately, allowing air to circulate around each one, and to control yields.
Sustainability: Beginning in 1999 the estate became one of the first in the region to adapt sustainable vineyard practices and production. Over the years constant improvements have been made, a new management system has been put in place, respect for the environment is a top priority. They have obtained and maintained ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Reasoned Agriculture certifications. All their actions are designed to guarantee the balance of their Sustainable development policy. In 2010 they were rated ‘Exemplary’ at the level of AFAQ 26000 Sustainable Development by Afnor, which makes them the very first European vineyard to obtain this level of recognition.
