Keever Vineyards
Wine is more than just a beverage, it tells a story. It is a place and a time, a snapshot of vineyards in each vintage. Keever Vineyards happens to always tell a great story through their wines. Started in 1999, this small family owned and operated winery is located in the rocky hills of Napa Valley just southwest of Yountville. They farm a 6.5 acre vineyard planted to four clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc. Their wines are handcrafted by one of California’s top winemakers Celia Welch of Scarecrow, Corra & Buccella fame. Made in very small quantities, their wines are collectable, age-worthy, and stunningly unique.
"The magic is in the blend: Each lot of wine ages separately for about the first ten months. Then we begin blending trials, evaluating each lot for texture, aroma, color, and flavor. Through multiple rounds of potential blends we look at the contribution from each lot, each barrel. Back and forth, we evaluate each offering for its aromas, texture, flavor and finish. Our winemaking team and the family work together to ensure that we create the best wine possible in each vintage.
From vine to bottle to you: After blending has been completed, bottling remains the final step in wine production. We bottle onsite, taking pride in the fact that the entire journey from vineyard to crush to ageing to blending to bottling takes place on our Yountville estate. Once in the bottle, our stewardship has finished. Now we pass the baton to you, and we hope that you will find the perfect day, the perfect meal, the perfect celebration with which to enjoy the delicious results of our efforts.
Wine is more than our business. We live every day among the vines and barrels, guarding them with care and love. Our stewardship of our land and our wines, our dedication to this craft and our family, result in wines that perfectly express both the seasons past and the dreams to come."
Celia Welch, winemaker: Celia Welch is one of North America’s most significant winemakers and believes wine should speak to the unique qualities and characteristics of the vineyard. She was raised in Oregon where her father, a wine collector and home winemaker, gave her an introduction to and appreciation for wine. Their father/daughter bond and shared interest in wine led to her fascination with flavors and aromas and eventually a degree in Enology from UC-Davis. She explored the wine regions of the Pacific Northwest, New Zealand and Australia before settling in Napa Valley to work in several notable wineries to hone her skills. She then became an independent winemaker working for clients including Staglin Family Vineyard, Scarecrow, Keever Vineyards, Barbour, and Lindstrom. Celia also produces wine under her own critically acclaimed label, Corra.
