Domaine Thevenot - Le Brun
Domaine is located in Marey-lès-Fussey, in the high-lying area of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vineyards extend over 3 appellations: Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Bourgogne Aligoté. Created in the early 1960s, Domaine Thévenot-Le-Brun today works 28 hectares of vines, which are all located not far from the winery. After training as a hydrological engineer, Nicolas Thévenot succeeded his father, Daniel, and his uncle, Jean, in 2009. He represents the 5th generation of the family at the helm.
Here's a remarkable find, affordable red Burgundy from the heart of the region. Hautes Cotes de Nuit is an under-the-radar appellation whose vineyards are high on the slopes above the Premier and Grand Crus of Nuits St' Georges, Vosne Romanee and others. Nicolas Thevenot is the younger generation at the Domaine Thevenot- Le Brun, an estate that has extensive vineyard holdings in Hautes Cotes de Nuits and as Decanter Magazine noted "He is convinced that the quality levels have never been higher in the Hautes Cotes"
The entire domaine is planted with tall, wide vines, which are sustainably grown. With the vines planted at a density of 3,000 to 4,000 per hectare, Nicolas Thevenot tries to limit the yields, which never exceed 45 hectolitres per hectare for the reds.
