Such a floral nose with refreshing but subtle white fruit. Peaches, jasmine and lychee with a hint of lime and chalk. A scented but gastronomic torrontes with impressive purity and bright acidity. A blend from Valle de Uco and Cafayate.

The varietal 2022 Crios Torrontes was produced with a 50/50 blend of juice from Cafayate in Salta and Paraje Altamira in Valle de Uco, fermented in their respective regions and then assembled in her winery in Mendoza. It has typicity, notes of orange blossom and other white flowers, but also a citrus side; it's crisp and aromatic with 13% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity that makes it easy to drink and refreshing, with a mellow mouthfeel.

Crios is a family-owned brand by Susana Balbo, Argentina’s leading and most innovative winemaker. Crios in Spanish means “offspring” and was created by Susana as a tribute to her son, Jose´, and daughter, Ana. Nowadays, Susana’s children have joined the family business and add their young-adult point of view to the wines that are dedicated to their family bond.

Crios wines are harvested from specific areas in Mendoza and Salta in Argentina, where grapes are optimal for the fruit-forward style of Crios. Contrary to many entry level brands, Crios wines have a background, a story behind. Each wine carries an inspirational message that also represents either a milestone in Susana’s personal and professional life or the story about how the wine was made. Crios is also the perfect pairing at any meal!

Tasting notes

Crios Torrontes reminds us to break the rules - that tinkering with assumptions can lead to rewards like seeing a common blending grape become Argentina's star white wine. Crisp, refreshing and aromatic, with a bouquet of citrus fruits, passion fruit, lychee and white flowers. Lively acidity, a hint of creaminess and a long, mineral finish add depth and balance to the palate. Aged for 3 months in stainless steel tanks of the lees to add structure. Pair with smoked meats, medium cheeses, fish, crab, sushi.
