Flint, grilled pineapple, lemongrass, grapefruit and cloves on the nose. It's medium-bodied, with plenty of tension and minerality. Spicy, too. Excellent length and complexity. Drink or hold.

The 2020 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is a little closed to begin, soon unfurling to offer notes of fresh yellow apple, ripe Bosc pears and key lime pie, plus subtle hints of paraffin wax and lemongrass. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound with apple and citrus layers, supported by compelling tension, finishing steely.

Texture and taut acidity are the hallmarks of this wine. It has the potential for great fruitiness and a fine richness to come as the wine develops. With its hints of spice and its concentration, the wine needs plenty of time.

This has a bitter citrus oil edge that lends some viscosity to the otherwise bright and racy yuzu, star fruit and gooseberry notes, while quinine and verbena fill in on the finish for added range and length. Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
