James Suckling 92pt

Graphite and toasty oak played across ripe, dark plums and blackberries. The plush velvety tannins are nicely delivered and bathed in flavors of blackberries, dark cherries and mocha. Drink or hold.

Wine Enthusiast 91pt

With over 80% Cabernet Sauvignon in the this Kopp family blend, this wine is packed with black currants, ripe tannins and a smoky backdrop from the wood aging. It is structured, dry and juicy at the same time.

Tasting notes

The nose is very aromatic with black fruits notes like blackberry and dense cherry. The mouth is structured and rich with a good volume and length. The tannins are concentrated but appear silky and persistent. Delightfully ripe, with an inviting core of plum and blackberry preserves, picking up an anise edge on the finish. The good balance between alcohol and acidity give Chateau du Retout a long ageing potential.
