Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Mazeyres charges out of the gate with bold notes of Morello cherries, boysenberries and plum preserves plus suggestions of garrigue, tilled soil and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate is more understated and classic than the nose suggestions, featuring loads of earthy nuances and a soft texture of rounded tannins, finishing on a graceful minerally note.

The 2019 Mazeyres is bright, effusive and so inviting. Blood orange, mint, rose petal, white pepper, espresso and incense are some of the many notes that soar from the glass. Mazeyres is not a big or obvious wine. Instead, it is a Pomerol that is all about understatement and class. As always, the Cabernet Franc is a strong marker.

Ripe, showing a rare fresh edge in this vintage, with a mix of cherry compote and damson plum notes working well together, while red licorice, fruitcake and singed apple wood accents fill in through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
