Vinous Media 91-93

The 2018 Clos Rene is opulent and outgoing on the nose with blackberry, boysenberry, truffle and cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, plenty of cedar-infused black fruit with cracked black pepper and bay leaf towards the well defined finish. There is a touch of rusticity here, but bags of charm and it will age with style.

Wine Advocate 89-91

Blended of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec, the 2018 Clos Rene is deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of baked blueberries and plums with balsamic and crushed rocks. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy with loads of earth laced black fruit preserves on offer and good length.
