Currants, spiced cherries, cloves, dried flowers and bark on the nose. Full-bodied with firm, powdery tannins. Creamy with concentrated spice notes. Builds on the palate. Lots going on.

The 2018 Clos des Jacobins is suave and beautifully nuanced in the glass. Bright floral notes add lift to a core of red cherry/raspberry fruit. Medium in body and silky, the 2018 is an attractive, mid-weight Saint-Emilion that will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is very nicely done.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Clos des Jacobins needs a little swirling to unlock notions of blackberry pie, black raspberries and mulberries with hints of wild sage, cast-iron pan and charcoal plus a waft of tobacco leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bags of herb infused black fruits, with an approachable, grainy texture and fantastic freshness, finishing long and earthy.
