Reviews
Wine Enthusiast 90
A spicy, wood-aged wine with layers of Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc. The wine is rich, still young with firm tannins and smoky acidity.

Technical Details
Ageing
Aged in French oak barrels (20 to 40% new oak barrels) from 12 to 14 months.
Background
Chateau du Basque, under the same ownership as Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Chateau
La Fleur Morange, is situated near the village of Saint Pey d’Armens. The owners, Mr
and Mrs Julien Lafaye, have improved tremendously the quality of the Chateau and
the vineyards appear immaculate and are carefully managed with some leaf
trimming and green harvesting during the summer months. A wine to be tried.
Food pairing
This is a perfect partner for red meat, although it makes a good match for roast poultry. But it is also great on its own.
Tasting notes
"Sweet oak in the nose, cranberries and tobacco leaves with touch of pencil
shave. Rounded mid-palate with a herbal savoury grip. Lively acidity."
Decanter World Wine Awards Argent 2023
Terroir
Old sands and clays.
