The mellow richness and generous scale of this wine helps to keep the tannins in check. Full and juicy.

The 2014 Cote de Baleau has a straightforward and slightly leathery bouquet with ample red berry fruit, mixed here with sage and later, scorched earth. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh red cherry and red peppercorns on the entry. It feels lively and tensile and exudes more energy than the nose, the finish bright and vivid. The structure here suggests that it gained weight during barrel maturation and it will age nicely over the next decade.

Has a velvety edge, with notes of steeped plum and warm cherry sauce, flecked with light tobacco and savory hints. Offers a gentle, pretty finish.
