The 2016 Yon-Figeac is dense and hulking in the glass. Chocolate, leather, spice and espresso wrap around a core of dark fruit. Virile and imposing, the 2016 needs a few years in bottle to soften. This is a decidedly extracted, dense expression of Saint-Emilion.

While this wine still has serious layers of tannins, it also delivers considerable ripe black-fruit flavors. The estate in the Figeac sector of Saint-Emilion has produced a powerful wine that is firm and that will age further. Drink from 2022.
