Decanter 93pt

Dark chocolate, liquorice and red cherries on the nose, ripe and darkly aromatic. Excellent energy and life to this, immediately juicy and vibrant with a rush of bright strawberry, raspberry and red cherry fruit flavours with a satin-textured mineral, minty kick at the end. Balanced and harmonious - such a joyful wine with a lot to like and a lingering freshness in the mouth after several minutes. Easy drinking and easy to recommend.

James Suckling 91pt

Blackberries, blackcurrants, black olives, tea leaves, bark and dried earth on the nose. It's medium-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. A little austere and tight for now. Cabernet sauvignon and merlot.

Vinous Media 90pt

The 2019 de Cruzeau is impeccable and absolutely delicious. Silky contours and pretty floral accents give this mid-weight Pessac-Leognan its charming, gracious personality. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, orange peel, dried herbs and gravel lead into the delineated finish. The 2019 has developed into a very pretty, understated wine.

Wine Enthusiast 90pt

This savory wine with structure and ripe tannins is led by juicy Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the black-currant fruits and firm texture. This is a well-constructed wine, with a dark, solid aftertaste.

Tasting notes

The color is intense red, close to the color of garnet. The nose, very elegant, reveals all its richness of red fruits, ripe red currant, with a touch of spices and chocolate. On the palate, it is a well-balanced wine that offers a very nice structure, with well-coated tannins, tasty aromas of red fruits, freshness and a good length. Its ageing potential is high but it can be enjoyed now as an aperitif or with smoked duck breast, mushroom risotto or a cheese platter.
