James Suckling 91pt

Fine cassis, spiced plums and a hint of mineral and tobacco leaf. The juicy, medium-bodied palate shows soft tannins and a refined, linear finish. Not a substantial wine but the length and finesse here are worth praising. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon.

Wine Enthusiast 93pt

This estate in the Lurton portfolio has produced a richly textured wine. It has a firm core of black tannins, surrounded by concentrated black fruits. The wine, an almost equal blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be ready from 2027.

Tasting notes

The color is intense red, close to the color of garnet. The nose, very elegant, reveals all its richness of red fruits, ripe red currant, with a touch of spices and chocolate. On the palate, it is a well-balanced wine that offers a very nice structure, with well-coated tannins, tasty aromas of red fruits, freshness and a good length. Its ageing potential is high but it can be enjoyed now as an aperitif or with smoked duck breast, mushroom risotto or a cheese platter.

Description

Since the 17th century, nature has been especially generous to Château de Cruzeau, whose superb gravel rises with perfect sun exposure were predestined for winegrowing. Today, the estate has nearly 100 hectares of vines. The wines of Château Cruzeau are widely recognized for their great finesse and elegance.
