Tasting notes
Being 100% Merlot, the wine is made with particular care from the vine up to the wine house. The soils are cultivated and ploughed, with the stripping off of leaves and green grapes harvest optimizing maturity, while the
winemaking is now conducted in a new wine house, dedicated in 2008, and provided with up-to-date equipements.
Temperature-controlled vats, harvest received with the gravitational force, vibrator tables, air-conditioned wine
houses, make up the perfect conditions are to get the best of this soil.
Estate
Saint-Emilion, in the mid-19th century, the shadow of a black horse working in the vines… Prodigiously brave, both powerful and elegant, the horse was known to provide quality and success to each harvest. This is how began the legend of the Grands Vins de Cheval Noir, a pure and distinguished expression of exceptional soils.
Since 1895, the name of Cheval Noir is one of the oldest of the region of Bordeaux. Purchased in 1937, Cheval Noir is the first estate of the Mähler-Besse family whose domains, among the most beautiful of the Bordeaux region, currently span Haut-MEdoc, Saint- Emilion and Saint-Estèphe appellations.
The top vintage, Château Cheval Noir CuvEe Le Fer, entirely turned to excellence, is shown as the symbol of such philosophy. Settled on the St-Emilion plateau, the 6-hectare estate opened in 2008 a wine house combining the top range technology to the passion of wines. Made with passion and following high standards, the wines of Cheval Noir provide all the amateurs the association of pleasure, charm and elegance.
