Product Ratings
James Suckling 95pt

Wonderful aromas of currants and blackberries with hints of spices. Full body, with fabulous tannins and a long and creamy texture to the finish. I love the depth of fruit to this. Best ever from here. Great value for the vintage.

Wine Advocate 92pt

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Ormes de Pez slips sensuously from the glass with seductive blackberry pie, Black Forest cake and kirsch scents plus nuances of candied violets, hoisin, dark chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and plush in the mouth, it has a fantastic line of freshness lifting all the decadent fruit to a long, energy-sparked finish.

Dark and winey, with good damson plum, black currant and mulled spice notes pushed by a tangy iron note and flecks of savory and chalk on the finish. The judicious toast lets the pure fruit drive along. Best from 2015 through 2025.

Vintage

After a superb 2009 vintage, the 2010 vintage also falls into the category of exceptional wines.
Thanks to satellite mapping carried out 8 weeks before harvest, we identify the differences in vegetative vigor within the plots, and this year we are doing an intra-plot cutting that results in the creation of 15 additional plots.
In the same momentum as in Lynch-Bages, the grape harvest at the Ormes de Pez begins on 28 September and ends on 15 October. The coloring takes place there too very quickly, confirming our expectations on the vintage that promises an exceptional phenolic richness.
Some of the northernmost areas of our vineyard are affected by a violent hail storm that is falling on May 9th. The latter arrives rather early in the season, but the plant can nevertheless restore normal function quickly enough to carry out its vegetative cycle.
Yields are impacted, as we lose up to 40% of the grapes on a few plots and finally our average agronomic yield on the whole vineyard is 44 hl / ha. Ormes de Pez 2010 presents a black dress with garnet-like reflections and a very expressive nose on notes of blackcurrant, plum and ripe red berries. An opulent and concentrated wine, full of roundness whose tannins and acidity blends to give it even more relief. A very tasty vintage, in line with the previous one.
