James Suckling 93pt

A very spicy and typical St.-Estephe with nutmeg, clove and berry character. Medium body with slightly chewy tannins and a savory finish. Give it time to soften. Serious second wine from Phelan.

Wine Advocate 89-91+pt

Deep purple-black colored, the 2019 Frank Phelan jumps from the glass with punchy black cherries, boysenberries and plum preserves scents with a core of warm cassis, candied violets, dark chocolate and garrigue. Medium-bodied, the palate has a classic sturdy/chewy structure with seamless freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing earthy.

Tasting notes

Frank Phelan associates indulgent fruit thats intense and compelling. The structure is elegant and full of silky tannins. It undergoes 14 months ageing. Its roundness and suppleness allow it to be enjoyed from a young age.
