James Suckling 91pt

Savory cranberries with a touch of earthy, dried spices and preserved oranges. Juicy and medium-bodied on the palate with dusty tannins and a succulent, medium-long finish. Drink now.

by James Suckling, 2024
Wine Enthusiast 92pt

The wine has a juicy character of black-currant fruits from the Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. It is ripe and balanced, its fruit shot through with acidity and supported by tannins that are still young.

Tasting notes

Bright, intense ruby color. Elegant nose of crushed red black berry fruit, spices and a hint of vanilla. Rich and round in the mouth with a touch of freshness. Soft well-integrated tannins and a long finish.

Description

Lalande is producing an exceptional elegant and refined wine, that is still available at affordable prices for the consumer. The vineyard is 15.5 hectares (38 acres) in size planted mostly on gravely soil with low yields. After harvest from mid-September to mid-October, the wine is vinified in separate vats and undergoes cold maceration for 5 days to maximize color and to soften the tannins . The alcoholic fermentation lasts for 10 days and 50% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Finally, the wine ages 12 months in 40% new French oak before being bottled. Estate grown and bottled. Sustainable practices.
