Technical Details

Ageing

Ageing: 24 to 30 months in barrel and inox tank.
Barrels: Oak from the center of France. 1/3 new barrels per year.
Production: 70.000 bottles.

Hand-picking with several selections.

Creation of the Chateau: 1709 by Romain de Filhot.
Classification: Second cru classe in 1855.
Owner: The Vaucelles family.
Surface area: 62 hectares.
Position of the vineyard: South of the village of Sauternes on south-west hillsides.
Grape varieties: Semillon 60%, Sauvignon 36%, Muscadelle 4%.
Soil: Deep graves, clay and sand.
Yield per hectare: 14 to 16 hl/ha.

Vinification

Fermentation: In small stainless steel tanks with automatic temperature control.
Blending of grape varieties: 14 months after fermentation.
