Tasting notes
Situated just above Champgains, on marl and limestone soils, the vineyard of La Garenne benefits from an ideal south-easterly exposure. In ancient french 'La Garenne' means a wood surrounded by walls reserved for the lord of the manor, for the hunting of small game in particular rabbit. The wine is rich and opulent with a focused terroir. La Garenne is buttery rich with a spicy exotic fruit character and a crisp balancing acidity. The finish is lingering.
Estate
One of Burgundy's largest wine Domain's. Its prestigious heritage, which comprises a remarkable
Chateau with a glazed tile roof and 90 hectares of vineyards, is the product of a time-old legacy
that is closely tied to the history of the Burgundy wine region. This remarkable chateau, with its
varnished tiles, is a spectacular piece of heritage closely tied to the region's history. Its
vineyards are split between the Cote d'Or and Cote Chalonnaise. The diversity of its 'climats' results
in a rich palette of wines with distinctive styles that reflect the subtleties of the Burgundy varietals.
The estate began its organic conversion in 2021 across its 100 hectares of owned vineyards and has been
certified since the summer of 2024. The 2024 vintage is the first produced under organic farming.
