Description

Crisp, balanced and delicately floral, Chardonnays from the Macon Villages are often made in the unoaked style and offer a magnificent sampling of what white Burgundy has to offer—without years of waiting and high dollar price tags.

Regardless, you can count on Macon Villages whites to be fresh and fruity with citrus and melon flavors, and aromas of white roses, honeysuckle, lemon-grass or fennel.

Vinification

Vinification with temperature control in stainless steel tanks. Ageing in vats. No oak aging for a crisp, pure wine.

Tasting notes

Nose: An attractive and open fruit aroma.
Palate: Well structured in the mouth, a little honey. Good freshness within the structure. The wine is fresh and already has a pleasant maturity.

Estate

Domaine Daniel Pollier has been producing white wines across Mâcon since the 18th century, with current plantings of Chardonnay found in the appellations of Mâcon Fuissé, Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran, Mâcon Chaintré, and Pouilly-Fuissé, the latter of which is en route to receive Premier Cru status in the coming years. The domaine comprises 13 hectares. All of the wines are crafted solely from estate fruit, coming from vines with an average of 40 years, some of which clock in at an impressive 70 years. Vines sit between 250 and 300 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils, with optimal southern and southeastern exposure.
