The vineyard consists on vines with an average age of 4-40 years. The grapes are hand-picked and then hand sorted at the winery. This wine was very traditionally produced without fining or filtration. It was aged for 16 months in concrete vats.
Description
Visiting Roussillon in 2000, Jean-Luc Thunevin discovered its wonderful terroirs and was seduced by the region. At the same time, he met Jean-Roger Calvet, a local winemaker.
They decide to buy a few acres of vineyards together and found the Domaine Thunevin-Calvet, located in Maury on beautiful terroirs of black schists. Their first vintage was produced in 2001. Cuvée Constance is dedicated to Jean-Roger’s daughter.
Ageing
14 months in concrete vats.
Tasting notes
A fruity red with sweet cherries, red plums, dried spices, and a hint of coffee on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured, but has good fruit to support the tannins. Spicy finish. Drink Now. - J. Suckling
