Vineyard
Located on the banks of the Loire River, east of Bourges, the vineyards of Sancerre cover a surface area of 2,926 hectares. Three soil types make up the sancerre region, giving its specificity;
Silaceous clay soils (on the hills in the eastern vineyards).
Caillottes, very stony and calcareous.
Terres blanches which are white in appearance and are located on the westernmost hills of the Sancerre region (clay-limestone based).
The Sancerre area of appellation includes the communes of Bannay, Bue, Crezancy, Menetou-Ratel, Menetreol, Montigny, St-Satur, Ste-Gemme, Sancerre, Sury-en-Vaux, Thauvenay, Veaugues, Verdigny and Vinon.
Varietals: Sauvignon Blanc for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds. The Centre-Loire region brings out the pure expression of the grapes.
