Reviews
Jancis Robinson 17
Cask sample. Tasted blind. Attractive combination of lively fruit and sappiness. Lovely already though there are lots of fine tannins on the end.

Vinous Media 94
Dark bright-rimmed ruby. Highly fragrant, spice-tinged aromas of black raspberry and blueberry preserves are complemented by candied violet and cracked pepper nuances. Red and dark berry liqueur and spicecake flavors show excellent depth as well as energetic lift thanks to a spine of zesty minerality. Finishes with extremely persistent blue fruit, floral and spice qualities, slow-mounting tannins and intense, floral-driven persistence.

Wine Advocate 96
A reference point for the appellation, the 2015 Saint Joseph le Clos combines detailed nuances of crushed stone, red plum, roasted meat and black olive with massive concentration and powerful tannins.

Technical Details
Description
The Le Clos is sourced from less than an acre on a granite slope at the south end of Tournon. Chapoutier first began to bottle it in 2011 when the new winery gave him the ability to micro-vinify the roughly 200 cases of Le Clos made every vintage. Grown on brown soils derived from coarse-grained, black mica granite that is fractured and locally altered, this wine offers mineral and floral notes with great length. Le Clos joins the increasingly popular ranks of Chapoutier’s Saint-Joseph single parcel wines.
Tasting notes
Dark garnet black with purple highlights throughout. Lovely notes of dark fruit (cherry, blackberry), beautiful minerality with graphite notes. Soft, rich and elegant on entry. Very fine, silky tannins. Long-lingering finish with aromatic notes reminiscent of the granite terroir.
