Description
The Loire Valley in Western France has played a vital role in French wine history for many centuries. Home to France's longest river, it is the third largest appellation in the country and runs from central France alongside fabled oak forests and grand chateaux. It includes the great Sauvignon Blanc regions of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, and on to flow west, through the Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc heartlands of Anjou, Vouvray and Saumur before reaching the Atlantic near Nantes and the wine region of Muscadet. Quality and diversity have always remained the region's key strengths.
