Since 1862, when the Meyblum family first became involved in selling wines and spirits, the company has come a long way. Now a dynamic group, it has developed a strong international presence. Today, Erik Meyblum is following in the footsteps of four generations of wine merchants who have combined their global perspective with strong Alsace roots. The companies portfolio comprises an extensive range, running the gamut in terms of styles and colors, with both still and sparkling wines encapsulating the best of what the wine world has to offer. For the Meyblums, people-centred and industrialized processes go hand in hand, so do tradition and innovation. In practice, this enables the company to supply wines made from the finest fruit and terroirs. They use cutting-edge winemaking and maturation techniques to ensure that the wines are of the highest standard.

Tasting notes

Victoire Lafayette is a crisp, Brut Blanc de Blancs with golden wheat color tints and clear fine bubbles. Fresh and fruity with honey hints and white peach and apricot aromas. Crisp, well-balanced and very food friendly. Ideal for festive occasions and with seafood (oysters, shrimp cocktail) or on its own for an aperitif.

Description

Victoire Lafayette is made in the Charmat method, the grapes are harvested in the cool morning temperatures to keep the refreshing identity of the wine. The grapes are then go through direct pressing and separation of the first presses. It then goes through a cold fermentation and is aged in closed vats on the fine lees before the second maceration with addition of the dosage. The final wine is then clarified, filtered and bottled.

The Victoire Lafayette wine is named after the honorable historic figure Marquis de Lafayette was a French aristocrat and military officer who fought in the American Revolutionary War, commanding American troops in several battles. He joined the “Victoire” departing to America in 1777. To honor this occasion the date is included on the logo. After returning to France, he was a key figure in the French Revolution of 1789 and the July Revolution of 1830. He has been considered a national hero in both countries.
