Estate
Purchased by Mr. Mauro Pacini in 1983 and upgraded with the most advanced winemaking installations, Fattoria la Lecciaia is a wine estate that combines a young, dynamic approach to the wine business, while strictly adhering to the antique traditions of Brunello di Montalcino. Located in “località Vallafrico” and surrounded by the vineyards of some of the most iconic estates of the area, the estate is in the center of the original micro-terroir where the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino was first produced.
Description
Located in “località Vallafrico” and surrounded by the vineyards of some of the most iconic estates of the area, the estate is in the centre of the original micro-terroir where the world famous Brunello di Montalcino was first produced. The Sassarello is one of the estate’s Super Tuscan bottlings. A blend of 50% Sangiovese with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Sangiovese was aged in traditional large oak barrels, like Brunello, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot matured in smaller French oak barrique. The aging wines spent just approximately one year in barrel and a further six months in bottle before release.
Tasting notes
Rich, with earthy aromas of dark cherry, plum, cocoa, and a touch of cedar, and sandalwood. Medium-bodied, round on the palate. A great pairing with grilled rib eye steak with wilted spinach, oven baked lasagna, or traditional cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano. 50% Sangiovese with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
