Product Ratings
James Suckling 92pt

Aromas of ripe black cherries and blackcurrants with licorice, cocoa and moist earth undertones. Medium- to full-bodied. Chalky and velvety texture with firm tannins and a long, linear finish.

Tasting Panel 92pt

This is a bright, delightful, and expansive single-vineyard bottling whose notes of spiced cedar meld with black cherry and coffee. Sweet tobacco adds texture while walnut skin and crushed stone add tension.

Wine Enthusiast 92pt

Chocolaty, rich in texture and laced with soft tannins, this wine shows the opulent side of the grape variety where the fruit is late-harvest ripe and backed by a full body. It is plush, broad and easy to enjoy young.

Tasting notes

The lovely black cherry and plum nose gives way to warm spice and intense blueberry. The mouth is full and lush with many layers. Classic Napa Valley power with a full and round tannin finish. Drink over the next 10 years.

Yardstick

A yardstick is an old basis for measurement which can be used as a baseline or reference point. YARDSTICK Ruth’s Reach Cabernet Sauvignon is just that: it offers the signature taste of Napa Valley but without the baseline Napa Valley price. The mid-valley is close enough to receive regular morning fog from the San Pablo Bay but far enough north to bask in the warm afternoon Napa Valley sun. Late in the day cool breezes flow north and the cooling cycle repeats, thus preserving the grapes’ color and acidity. The soils here are alluvial browns which produce wines with exceptional richness, bright acidity, and fine tannins.
