Tasting notes
A brilliant pale gold with shimmery straw highlights in appearance. The nose opens with notes of crisp green apple, lemon verbena, and white peach from the early harvest. It blends seamlessly with deeper aromas of ripe Bosc pear, wet flint, and a delicate hint of orange blossom brought on by the later harvest. A subtle undertone of chalky minerality accompanies the bouquet. On the palate the first early harvest drives a vibrant, energetic core of citrus-driven acidity and stony minerality that cuts across the mid-palate. This perfectly counters the later block, which introduces a textured, satin-like weight featuring flavors of fleshier stone fruits, lemon curd, and a touch of honeycomb. The finish is long, clean, and remarkably focused, with a refreshing wave of saline minerality and a lingering echo of bright citrus zest that invites another sip.
Terroir
This cool-climate Chardonnay from South Napa showcases the exceptional balance achieved through dual harvest dates and established vine maturity from the two estate vineyards in Jameson Canyon. The San Pablo bay's heavy maritime fog and cooling winds allow for the long, slow growing season. This preserves the vibrant, natural acidity while developing complex flavor profiles in the fruit.
