Product Ratings
Wine Advocate 93pt

A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, the 2018 FD2 has a medium ruby color and alluring aromas of cranberry sauce, baked plums and Christmas spices with savory undertones of tobacco, mushroom and leather. The medium-bodied palate has a chalky texture, softened acidity and fine savory details on the finish. This 2018 is the current release, and it's in a great spot for drinking right now.

Tasting notes

We aged this wine a little longer in barrel to soften the palate and make it more approachable upon opening. It expresses the strong structure and intense flavor characteristics typical of Fulldraw fruit. You get the bright juicy strawberry characteristics of the Grenache, rounded out by the dark and concentrated flavors and velvety texture of the Syrah. This is a wine for instant gratification. We made it to be an everyday drinker that does not fall short in complexity, quality, or longevity. This wine is a representation of what our vineyard, as a whole, has to offer. 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah from the Fulldraw Vineyard, aged 20 months in 100% French oak barrels (40% new oak). Only 250 cases produced

Estate

Fulldraw began in 2012 when Connor McMahon jumped on the opportunity to acquire a 100-acre vineyard site in the Templeton Gap of west side Paso Robles. With six years of winemaking and farming experience at adjacent property, Booker Vineyard, he understood that with its limestone soils and cooling maritime influences, this was a place where the Rhone varieties he loved would thrive. Connor works closely with crew members following organic farming practices in order to best take advantage of the site’s demanding soil and extreme exposures. Fulldraw aims to create a sustainable and healthy environment for each and every vine in order for the resulting fruit to translate into beautifully balanced wines that fully express the unique place that is their home.
