Tasting notes
This small family-owned château is located in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation. They made a point in bottling this unique cuvée, based on Merlot planted on limestone soils. The wine offers plenty of blue fruit, cassis notes with a distinct dusty minerality. It is very pleasing right now, with no need to age. It will appeal to all those seeking a ready-to-drink, yet intriguing wine. A blend of mostly Merlot coming from 16 hectares of vines planted in clay-limestone soils on a well-drained plateau near the village of St. Antoine du Queyret in in Entre-Deux-Mers. Latrique goes through traditional vinification with cold maceration and aging for 8 months in new barrels. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Estate
Jean-Philippe took over the management of the estate in 2008, following his father, Guy. He make the choice to switch to organic farming on the entire estate and invested in offering a greener glass, and more sustainable packaging. This project is first and foremost a team of bons vivants who share the same innovative vision of Bordeaux wine: a Bordeaux based on freshness, fruit and pleasure! Château du Bernat is a 65 acre estate located south of Saint Emilion. The Château focus is the expression of its terroir, the quality of our grape varieties and the preservation of its environment. Their terroir is 100% limestone which helps impart a bright and fresh characteristic in the wine. This is a more modern style of Bordeaux with its very approachable style and unique bottle and packaging. The estate is located on an old stone quarry - the Frontenac limestone - which built a large part of the châteaux of Saint-Émilion and also shaped the city of Bordeaux.
