Tasting notes
This classic Merlot based Bordeaux from the Castillon opens with an elegant nose of red currant, blueberry and black pepper aromas. The wine is round in texture and filled with delicious ripe black and red fruits, chocolate, tobacco and spice.
Description
Nestled up in Castillon, a stone's throw from Saint-Emilion, sits Château Mauperey. Entirely family-run by the Laurets, Mauperey boasts excellent quality Merlot at a fraction of the price of its better known neighbours. The clay-rich soils here retain the winter rain that feeds the vines.

Estate
Château Mauperey is a family-run property located in the commune of Les Salles-de-Castillon, 60 kilometres Eastern Bordeaux. This property was owned for several generations by wine-makers settled in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon and Saint-Emilion. The Lauret family, current owner, took over Château Mauperey in 2012.
Food pairing
Grilled leg of lamb, grilled fillet of duck breast, or with stuffed goose, along with brown potatoes and boletus mushrooms. This wine will be perfect with a good selection of fine cooked meats.
