We had to wait until the first blending tastings in February to really be able to assess 2006, a vintage that was influenced by such variable weather conditions. It was a great year characterised by a most unusual alternation of strong heat (in July and September) and cool temperatures (in August); it was also affected by a stormy spell in mid-September, which was quite violent in some areas and caused winegrowers to dread the onset of rot. Crops were gathered hastily.
