Tasting notes
Intense in color, this wine has a complex yet elegant nose of blackcurrant, liquorice, blackberry, almond paste and undergrowth. The mouth is beautiful with notes of black cherry, moka and mellow tannins. An incredible persistence!
Description
In this area which is in the North of the appellation of Beaune and exposed to the East, you can find parts of the faces of old limestone quarries with various fine limestones. The clay-limestone soils of Perrières, which are shallow and poor due to the steep inclination, produce a powerful and structured red wine with a perfect ageing potential.
Estate
The Latour family founded the ‘Maison de négoce’, an important shipping company, in 1797, and it is still based at 18 Rue des Tonneliers in Beaune to this day. The company is unique in Burgundy in that it is still family-owned and family-run, having been passed down from father to son for ten generations over 200 years. Maison Louis Latour ships its wines to over 180 countries worldwide. These world-class Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs can be found on the most famous dining tables around the globe.
