Description
Visiting Roussillon in 2000, Jean-Luc Thunevin discovered its wonderful terroirs and was seduced by the region. At the same time, he met Jean-Roger Calvet, a local winemaker.
They decide to buy a few acres of vineyards together and found the Domaine Thunevin-Calvet, located in Maury on beautiful terroirs of black schists. Their first vintage was produced in 2001. Cuvée Constance is dedicated to Jean-Roger’s daughter.
Ageing
14 months in concrete vats.
Tasting notes
"A fruity red with sweet cherries, red plums, dried spices, and a hint of coffee on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured, but has good fruit to support the tannins. Spicy finish. Drink Now." - J. Suckling
Vinification
The vineyard consists on vines with an average age of 4-40 years. The grapes are hand-picked and then hand sorted at the winery. This wine was very traditionally produced without fining or filtration. It was aged for 16 months in concrete vats.
