James Suckling 91pt

A crafty, lively and delicious sauvignon blanc with aromas of tropical fruit, grass and mild spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Bright and vivid with a frank finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

by James Suckling, 2024

Viticulture and Terroir

The grapes come from the slopes of the Loire Valley formerly known as The Garden of France due to its temperate climate perfect for growing vegetables, and of course vines. The king of France used to have their castles and gardens there.

Food pairing

Here is an excellent aperitif that is also outstanding with fish, seafood and certain white meats. Enjoy Petit Bourgeois with a halibut steak in lemon butter, a kingfish carpaccio, some grilled white fish or goat cheese.

Tasting notes

Remarkably aromatic with pleasant flower and fruit fragrances. On the palate it reveals a freshness and vivacity that is pure and clean. Citrus, apple and gooseberry aromas with hints of passion fruit are found in this lively and bright wine. An incredible value.

Estate

For 10 generations, we have offered our passion and values as winegrowers to develop Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs of great character. Each member of our family, Jean-Marie Bourgeois, Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe, bring their talent to the Domaine. Established in Chavignol, in the heart of the best terroirs of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, we cultivate a mosaic of plots respecting our unique terroirs of Kimmeridgian Marl, Silex, Clay and Limestone.

Vinification

This Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc takes advantage of the 10th generations of winemaking experience behind the Bourgeois family. It ferments in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks at cool temperature in order to have longer fermentations and more intense aromas. The wine then matures for 3 months on its fine lees before bottling.
