Tasting notes
Crisp and fruity, this wine develops the harmonious notes of red fruits so representative of the Loire vineyards. Aromas of strawberries, redcurrants, red ripe cherries and hints of spice. A wonderful freshness makes this wine delicate and easy to drink.
Vinification
Following 10 to 12 days of maceration to extract a maximum of fruit, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless-steel tanks to achieve the Petit Bourgeois's finesse and suppleness.
Viticulture
The grapes come from the slopes of the Loire Valley formerly known as "The Garden of France" due to its temperate climate perfect for growing vegetables, and of course vines. The king of France used to have their castles and gardens there.
Food pairing
Light, discreet, elegant, this charming fruity wine asks for cuisine of the same sort. Fowl or other white meats are perfect as are a wide range of prepared cold meats such as a plate of French charcuterie.
History
For ten generations now the Bourgeois family has devoted its passion and values to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, becoming Sancerre’s most well-known producer. The company is now led by the current generation of the family – Jean-Marie and Remi Bourgeois. The winery and family base is the village of Chavignol, and Domaine holdings can be found on a mosaic of plots throughout Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Each plot is isolated and worked in respect of its origin to reveal, in the most precise and true way, the expression of its terroir, whether we are talking Kimmeridgian marls, flint, or limestone clay soils. We see this expressed in a dizzying array of bottlings, many of which are amongst the most sought after of their kind in the Loire each year.
