Decanter 94pt

Arnaldo Rivera is the top selection of cooperative Terre del Barolo. Cannubi is a new release. Aged in large Slavonian oak casks of different capacities, as well as tonneaux and barriques, the 2019 vintage shines for its graphite minerality, minty notes and cherry fruit, with some soapy, vanilla aromas. There's great concentration on the palate, where the attack is thick, with a dusty touch, but ripe and enjoyable. The finish is savoury and fully focused on a 'chinotto' (bitter orange) vibrant flavour.

James Suckling 95pt

Aromas of dark cherries, plum skins, chocolate orange, tree bark, dark cedar, wet asphalt and tar. Full and intense with polished and refined tannins. Wide and broad with dense red and dark berry character, dried flowers and spices. Very powerful. Lingering and savory at the end.

Here is another exciting addition to a growing portfolio of wines from the various villages and vineyard crus of Barolo. From a classic vintage, the Arnaldo Rivera 2019 Barolo Cannubi has a note of sweet cherry or candied raspberry that gives this wine extra lift and brightness. That sharp fruit note is accompanied by violets and roses, and the overall effect is very pretty. On second nose, you get a little more spice and tar that serve to ground the wine in terms of texture and mouthfeel. The vineyards were planted in 1946, and only 3,000 bottles will hit the market soon.

Wine Spectator 90pt

A sleek, open-knit red marked by distinctive notes of black currant and blackberry, with hints of rose and vanilla. Graceful and stylish, with firm tannins lining the finish.
