Product Ratings
James Suckling 93pt

A very well-made pinot grigio showing some crushed stones, white almond, nectarines, subtle cream and meringue. Excellent weight and texture on the palate with a full body and a long but elegant finish with a subtle phenolic kick at the end. An outstanding pinot grigio.

The St. Michael-Eppan 2021 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Sanct Valentin has aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, gooseberry, a dusting of white pepper, waxy notes, petrol, honeycomb and stewed lemon. There is something that reminds me of acrylic crayon. The medium-lean mouthfeel ends with raw honey. This Pinot Grigio sees 11 months in oak and six months in cement.

Wine Spectator 90pt

This creamy white has a rich, leesy edge, which marries steely acidity with flavors of peach yogurt, persimmon, white cherry, singed orange peel and ground anise and ginger. Focused and long on the tangy finish.

Tasting notes

Sanct Valentin Pinot Grigio was first produced in 1986 when for the first time, after selecting the first grapes from chosen vineyards, it was vinified in small wooden barrels. The expressive Sanct Valentin Pinot Grigio is highly appreciated with its smoothly integrated acidity, strength and fullness. It is one of Italy’s most prized examples of Pinot Grigio and promises an excellent drinking experience even after many years of ageing. This vintage shows fruity aroma of apple, pear, fine vanilla, toasted white bread and hazelnut. It is strong in character, creamy and full-bodied with, pleasant acidity and smoky nuances.
