Description
Vinho Verde comes from a small region in Northern Portugal in the historic Minho province known for its super-value whites, reds, and rosés. These wines are loved for mouth-zapping acidity, subtle carbonation, and lower alcohol, making them a great choice for summer. The name literally means green wine, but translates as young wine, with wine being released three to six months after the grapes are harvested.
Bottle
Since 2009 all Mapreco wines have been produced with eco-friendly bottles. The reduction of glass in the bottles, provides a reduction in power consumption and in the utilization of raw materials, besides contributing to the environment. Besides using fewer raw materials in their production, the use of these bottles reduces the emission of gas during the wine transportation.
Vineyards
The vines for Mapreco are farmed with ecological methods including soil conservation and biodiversity maintenance to protect the environment.
Food pairing
Great as an aperitif or with appetizers, shellfish, vegetarian dishes or snacks. More specific pairings include green salads with goat cheese and herbs, caprese of tomatoes and mozzarella or grilled vegetables.
Tasting notes
The cherry color reveals a slightly fizzy wine that is a very fruitful rosé made from the traditional Vinho Verde white grapes. Adding a splash of red to offer flavors with notes of strawberry, cherry and berries. With just the right amount of effervescence and a medium length finish is a perennial favorite. Delicious!
