Tasting notes
Deep cherry red wine. On the nost, bonfire stone emerges, which gives it minerality, along
with nuances between floral and balsamic and aniseed fruits. In the mouth it has a fresh,
very elegant and fine mineral entry. Lots of fresh red fruit, raspberry and pomegranate.
Well balanced, elegant and round. Creamy and complex with smoky nuances from eging in
the barrel. Inici shows itself as a great Priorat that stands out for its kind intensity,
elegance, and purity.
Estate
Merum Priorati is one of the most important wine estates in Priorat. As this is one of the wildest, rugged terrains where few vines thrive and those that do produce very small yields. The wines of Merum Priorati are consistently highly rated and among the finest in the region. They were awarded the #4 selection in Wine Spectator’s Top 10 Wines of 2021 for their exceptional 95 Point Destí from the 2018 vintage. The estate only produces three expressions: El Cel, Inici & Destí. Each delivers intense and serious complexity against a backdrop of bright and vibrant modern fruit. These special wines are only available in limited quantities.
Food pairing
Its freshness and medium aromatic intensity makes INICI 2021 the perfect wine to accompany
partidge with truffles and wild mushrooms; duck breast with sweet potatoes and grape sauce;
dishes made with free-range eggs; or a selection of artisan cheeses.
Harvest
It began early September with the variety Syrah and ended on October 13 with the
Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes from the Mervm Priorati vineyards locates in the town of Porrera.
Harvested by hand and picked in 20 kg boxes.
