Tasting notes
This fruity and delicious Tempranillo has a cherry color with purple tones around the rim. It shows aromas of black cherry and plum with a freshness of ripe fruits. It also displays classic notes of licorice aromas with a bit of spice. The palate has an elegant profile with fresh sensations from beginning to end. A good structure but with the velvety character from the barrel aging. In the end it is reminiscent of cherry and leaves a very pleasant finish.
Estate
Hacienda Lopez de Haro sits squarely in the fat heart of the best of Rioja’s vineyard regions, San Vicente de la Sonsierra. In this region the best old Tempranillo vineyards in Rioja Alta can be found. Cultivated using the goblet system on very poor soils, it greatly reduces their production and increases the quality of the bunches. The Lopez de Haro wines are elegant, complex and aromatic and have become the new classics of Rioja, their wines are made with care and passion while offering amazing quality and value.
Vinification
This delicious Tempranillo was hand-picked during the second and third week of October and transported to the winery in shallow boxes and small trailers. It was produced from a selection of old vineyards, between 50 and 70 years old, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. It sees a short aging, between 3 and 4 months, in new barrels prior to release.
