James Suckling 91pt

Very grapey aromas with strawberries that follow through to a light to medium body, bright fruit and light tannins. It fresh and delicate, yet fruity and bright. Arcos, bonicaire and forcallat.

Wine Enthusiast 92pt

This bright, cherry-red wine has a nose of brambly fruits of the wood with a touch of smoke. Dark berry flavors transition to the palate as well, joined by notes of milk chocolate, rose petal, rosemary and tarragon. Polished tannins fade into a soft finish.

Vineyard

The vineyards are located in Valencia at an altitude of 1800 feet on clay, limestone soils with an average vine age of 20 years. The continental climate is softened by the Mediterranean influence, with an average annual temperature of 59 degrees and a Mediterranean type rainfall regime.

Recommendation

To appreciate the full potential of this wine we recommend serving it at a temperature of around 16-18 Celsius. The medium and rounded tannins of this wine make it the ideal companion for meats including game meat, lamb, chicken, duck confit, meat lasagna, cured and hard cheeses.

Estate

Bodega El Angosto belongs to the Chamber family and is located in the Finca Santa Rosa, inside an old bodega from the nineteenth century. The vineyards are located on two farms: Santa Rosa and El Angosto. The vineyards are nestled in hillside soils, calcareous and poor in organic matter. The goal of Bodega El Angosto is to develop Mediterranean wines, elegant and concentrated, while respecting the land.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-picked by hand from September to the middle of October. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wines are aged for 4 months in new French oak barrel ranging from 225 and 500 liters of capacity, ending its aging in large French oak vats and bottle aging for at least 2 months.

Tasting notes

Dark cherry with violet hints. A surprise for the nose, with fine toasty hints that come from the last mouth. The aromas found in the nose return, meaty with very soft tannins, silk and smooth.
