Tierra Roja Vineyard is a four-acre vineyard located on the hillsides of eastern Oakville and gets its name for its distinct red soils. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is an incredibly terroir-driven expression that wonderfully encapsulates the vineyard's characteristics. It begins with a burst of red cherries and sweet red plums, which are accented by nuances of fresh cut florals, spices, graphite shavings, herbs, and hints of wet clay nuances that all take shape. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied and beautifully structured with gorgeous soft, round tannins that result in a seamless mouthfeel. This shows wonderful overall balance and finesse, with a precise, concentrated core that is laced with sweet red and dark plums that persist all the way through the graceful finish. This is a beautiful wine from Tor that is extremely expressive at this early age, but should also have a wonderful evolution ahead.
