Tasting Panel 92pt

Blended with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc and aged in (50% new) French oak, this dynamo offers up aromas of blackberry and mocha coffee. Toasted oak and blueberry greet the palate on the first sip, rounded out by notes of peanut brittle. Juicy and lenghty, with fine-grained tannins and black cherry seasoned by nutmeg and white pepper on the mid-palate. The luxe finish of heather, blackberry, and anise is memorable.

Fresh spearmint, cedar and red cherries give lots of lively flavors to this medium-bodied, lightly tannic wine as it soothes the palate, showing focused fruit and good balance.

Tasting notes

Dark garnet velvet in color and texture, this Cabernet from Paso Robles highlights what the region is quickly being known for, those delicious Bordeaux grapes. Featuring rich dark fruits with notes of black cherry, blueberry, and spice, this full-bodied Cabernet showcases complex tannins and finishes with savory pepper spice and black currant from the Petit Verdot. Pairs extremely well with all red meats and game.

Description

Ammunition is the shared vision of two guys who had a dream and decided to make it happen. Andy and Bill partnered together to produce world-class wines and spirits from Sonoma County and bring them to their friends and family as a celebration of our shared American heritage. After some not-so-careful consideration, they pooled some money together with a few of their friends and started making wine.

In this way, the story of Ammunition isn’t Andy and Bill's story at all, but rather a shared celebration of the values, work ethic and ingenuity upon which this nation was built. This is a story about the underdog. About being uncompromising on quality even when faced with the prospect of competing with wineries many times our size. About believing so much in what you're doing, that you're willing to swim upstream even in the swiftest of waters. Every drop they produce represents their uncommon (and admittedly, at times, obsessive) pursuit of perfection. It’s the result of long hours, hard work and sleepless nights.

In the end, they know that nothing worth doing is ever easy. But make no mistake, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
