Harvest

We started the harvest with the Merlot grapes on September 18th. The rains of the previous week slightly affected the grapes, but their initial concentration allowed to keep a very good level: fruit, structure and finesse of the tannins as well as an acidity level giving a pleasant vivacity to the grapes.

We started picking the Cabernets on September 25th and finished on 30th without any rain -0.5 mm during the week. The Cabernet and Petit Verdot grapes were coloured and rich with nice tannins, beautiful purity and complex aromas. The grapes looked even more beautiful than the Merlots.

The yield is not very high with 44 hl/ha. Due to a slight flower abortion during the flowering season many Cabernet plots had very low yields which did not exceed 30 hl/ha.

Vintage 2006

The year 2006 started with a very wet winter. We had very little rain in April and May. June was extremely dry -2 mm of rain for the whole month- and July was drier than in 2003.

Today, the 2006 vintage appears to us like a very nice vintage with a global concentration as high as the 2005 vintage. 2006 joins our most successful vintages.
